University at Albany’s New 1.8 Megawatt Solar System Supports ‘Energy Master Plan’

The University at Albany in New York has begun construction on a solar project that will supply about 60% of the electricity used by its new $180 million ETEC building, expected to open this summer. The university will purchase all the electricity and renewable energy credits (RECs) produced through the 1.8 megawatt system.

Kellogg VPPA for Wind Plus Storage to Create One of the Largest Battery Storage Facilities in the World

The Kellogg Company has signed a long-term wind energy virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in North America with Enel Green Power. The agreement will give Kellogg about 360 gigawatt hours of wind electricity per year, equal to 50% of electricity used across the company’s North American manufacturing facilities.

Philadelphia Flyers to Practice in Facility Powered by Renewables

National Hockey League team the Philadelphia Flyers will now practice in a facility powered by 100% renewable energy. Parent company Comcast Spectacor has completed the installation of a 1.06 megawatt onsite solar system at the Flyers Skate Zone in New Jersey. The facility will achieve 100% renewable electricity supply for the facility starting in 2021, the company says.
